Adriana Lecouvreur was the only successful opera by Francesco Cilea The action takes place in the year 1730, in Paris. Adriana Lecouvreur, an actress at the Comédie-Française, is in love with Maurizio, the Count of Saxony,but he cannot decide if he loves Adriana or the Princesse de Bouillon. The show centers on the rivalry between Adriana and the Princess as they fight for Maurizio's love. Meanwhile, Michonnet, the stage manager at the Comédie-Française is also in love with Adriana.
