Sunny Side

Sunny Side

K is struggling.

At 18, he’s living in a world where everyone is rushing full-steam ahead but himself. He’s trapped in a small English Everytown; a self-proclaimed ‘rain-soaked paradise’ in the bottom of a Yorkshire valley. A town of two sides: old versus new, indigenous versus gentrified. And yet there's still nowhere that seems to fit K.

In a last attempt to understand and reconnect, he revisits the pivotal moments of his life but is left paralysed at the prospect of a future where his voice can’t be heard.

Where do young men stand in a world that seems to have no place for them?

Sunny Side is a raw and powerful portrayal of the modern young male experience, touring in partnership with Andy's Man Club and informed by the voices of over 750 young people across the UK. Combining contemporary dance, theatre, and spoken word, this socially urgent work from Northern Rascals explores the pain and loneliness that shape the journey from adolescence to adulthood.

The Planting Of The Penny Hedge 2026

The Planting Of The Penny Hedge 2026

  • Upper Harbour, East Side, Church Street Whitby, England, YO22 4AE United Kingdom (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Come and watch the planting of the Penny Hedge, a classic tradition in Whitby.

Each year in Whitby, locals and visitors gather on the east bank of the River Esk for the Planting of the Penny Hedge, a tradition that has lasted for centuries. The hedge is built starting at about 8:40 am, just past the railings on Church Street. It’s a charming event to see.

The ceremony, called the Horngarth, involves weaving a short hedge from hazel or willow stakes and planting it in the estuary of Whitby’s Upper Harbour. Local legend says the ritual began in 1159, after three hunters and their descendants were ordered to do this as penance for killing a hermit near Eskdale. The hedge must be strong enough to last through three tides, and the tradition has continued every year on Ascension Eve.

Paul Weller

Paul Weller

Over the course of a career which extends five decades, the songs of Paul Weller are woven into the tapestry of British music. His body of work totals 28 studio albums – eight which have topped the UK charts – together with several BRIT and Ivor Novello Awards.

With The Jam, Weller and Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler achieved instant success with their 1977 debut single In The City. The album with which it shared its title has come to be regarded alongside Never Mind The Bollocks and London Calling as one of the musical lodestones of the punk era.

After dissolving The Jam at the peak of their powers, Weller – still only 22 – swiftly re-emerged alongside keyboard player Mick Talbot in The Style Council resulting in a string of hits that included Shout To The Top and My Ever Changing Moods – songs that Weller regularly plays to this day.

As a solo artist, Weller forged his own path with acclaimed albums including Wild Wood and Stanley Road, which helped shape a new era of British guitar music. His creative restlessness has continued into the 21st century with records like 22 Dreams, On Sunset, and his latest album 66 (2024) – a vibrant, life-affirming work that reaffirms his enduring influence and commitment to artistic progression.

The Kooks’ 2006 debut Inside In/Inside Out sold more than two million copies providing a soundtrack to a generation. A new audience is now embracing their Britpop-tinged indie sound, alongside their loyal first-wave fans.

Their renewed energy has taken them to sold-out world tours and seen a euphoric return to major festival main stages in 2025, almost two decades on from their breakout.

From the jangly indie of their early days to synth-driven experiments and Krautrock touches, and with influences ranging from soul and opera, to classic songwriting by the likes of Bob Dylan to The Rolling Stones, The Kooks are celebrating their new era not only reconnecting with their roots, but proving themselves one of indie’s most enduring live forces.

Richard Ashcroft with Tom Meighan & Apollo Junction

Richard Ashcroft’s 2026 tour follows a phenomenal year in 2025, which saw him earning rapturous, stadium-wide receptions as special guest to Oasis through their run of huge summer shows.

His recent singles generated great anticipation ahead of his seventh solo studio album Lovin You, which charted at Number Three in the UK charts following its release last month.

The new album is already adding to the current rediscovery of Richard’s vast, influential songbook, which has taken him from huge success with The Verve led by the 11-times Platinum smash Urban Hymns through to an expansive solo career.

Tom Meighan’s unmistakable vocals were a central component to Kasabian’s timeless hits, including Fire, Club Foot, Shoot The Runner and more, from their five UK Number One albums – which won NME, Q, Mojo and BRIT awards.

After his departure from the band in 2020, Tom returned in 2023 with debut solo album The Reckoning heralding the emergence of a more reflective man, older, wiser, baring his scars for all to see in the new songs.

With a strong and dedicated fan base, Apollo Junction will open the show. Most recently the band released their second album What In The World born from highs, lows, countless gigs, and all the chaos in between.

Sex Pistols Featuring Frank Carter

One of the most influential rock bands of all time, 2025 has seen the new Pistols once more emerge as a force of chaos and celebration and 2026 will see them celebrate 50 years since the band’s infamous show at Manchester’s The Lesser Free Trade Hall – a gig hailed by NME as ‘the most important concert of all time’.

From Australia to Japan, through European festivals and a legendary show at the Royal Albert Hall – where Carter conjured a giant circle pit in that hallowed venue, they have torn venues apart throughout 2025. A return to London’s 100 Club before an audience that included Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller and Bobby Gillespie, sealed the revival.

Brid' On The Map - Oliver Pinder & Don't Fret The Poet

  • The Stirling Castle, 32 Queen St (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Yorkshire-born songwriter Oliver Pinder crafts guitar-driven alternative anthems that turn chaos into catharsis.

Raised in Queensbury on pub jukeboxes, Seabrook’s crisps, and fishing trips to Scotland with his dad, Oliver found solace in music after his father’s passing at age 12.

What began as intimate, indie-folk songs has evolved into raw, anthemic alt music, drawing comparisons to Bleachers, Wunderhorse, and Phoebe Bridgers.

He's joined by the super talented, local indie-folk songwriter Don't Fret The Poet.
