David Rovics is a brilliant singer songwriter from Portland Oregon. Hard hitting, sometimes humorous sometimes heart breaking his songs cover every social issue, current and past.
Visting Ryedale as part of his 30 date, “Ballad of a Wobbly”, world tour, his songs reflect subjects including a working class rebellion in Wales in 1831, the FBI’s Palmer Raids of 1919 and the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.
“Absolutely brilliant. David Rovics says exactly what needs to be said.” – Ian McMillan
Amy May Ellis in support is a hugely talented singer-songwriter from Farndale promoting her first CD “Weathered by Waves”. Her songs are melodic, personal, captivating, reflective. They have the perspective of being raised in the tranquillity and beauty of Farndale but at the same time exposed to a turbulent world and the hurly-burly of London.
“She has a voice that’s at once youthful and mature, romantic yet cynical, punchy but raw.” – Fresh On The Net.
“She had the perfect voice. The kind that just wraps you up into a kind of emotional embrace, forcing you to stop thinking, start dreaming, making you teary too. It just strikes that chord in your heart.”- Teatime In Wonderland
