New acting masterclass for adults at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre
The Stephen Joseph Theatre is running a five-week acting technique course for adults based around the upcoming production of Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis.
The course, which will use different theatre practitioner techniques to explore as many possible ways to go from page to stage as possible, includes time with one or more of the show’s professional company and a ticket to see the show.
The sessions will be facilitated by Laura Hawley, a creative practitioner who works nationally and internationally as a Quality Assurance Manager (Creative and Performing Arts and Music) and Performing Arts Practitioner and Examiner.
Laura completed her BA (Honours) degree in Theatre and English at the University of Ulster, and her Master of Arts in Theatre and Contemporary Practice from the University of Hull. She has a PGCE (education and training/adults) from the University of Greenwich and has professional QTS.
She created Bygone Productions, a Reminiscence Theatre Company that puts on bespoke performance for specialist audiences and has wide experience in directing and acting. Laura is a specialist in delivering performance technique workshops in a wide variety of styles and genres.
The course will take place at the Stephen Joseph Theatre at 6.30pm-8.30pm on Tuesdays 5, 12, 19 and 26 March and 2 April.
Places cost £50, and include a ticket to see Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis on Tuesday 9 April at 7.30pm. They can be booked via the box office on 01723 370541 or through the website: https://www.sjt.uk.com/event/807/adult_acting_masterclass
