Chris Cross, The Great Magician of the North, appears (and disappears) at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre
Chris Cross, the great Magician of the North, will be appearing (and disappearing) at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre next month in a show featuring some of his trademark comedy magic tricks and daredevil escapology stunts.
The show will also include the revival of some BBC TV illusions that belonged to his hero, the late Paul Daniels. Last year, in a barn in Wales, Cross uncovered a dozen of the master magician's props which haven't been seen since Paul used them on TV in the 70s and 80s.
In the past year, Cross has performed nationally and internationally, including an appearance on the BBC's The One Show. He was also a surprise special guest on US illusionist David Blaine's first ever UK tour.
He has performed his multi-award winning magic tricks for Prince Charles, at Boy George's 50th birthday party, at a private party for Alan Shearer and a press conference for Alice Cooper. He has consulted for The Hairy Bikers’ theatre tour, and provided backstage entertainment for Miles Kane, Ocean Colour Scene and Arctic Monkeys.
Chris Cross says: ''I'm very excited to be finally embarking on a touring magic theatre show this autumn in my native North-East – I've wanted to tour with a magic show since I was 12 years old, after watching Paul Daniels on stage in Newcastle.
“So get off your iPads and portable devices, round up your friends and family for some quality time together and come and enjoy a proper comedy, magic and variety show at your local theatre!''
Chris Cross, the Great Magician of the North, can be seen in the McCarthy at the SJT at 7pm on Tuesday 19 November. Tickets, priced from £10, are available from the box office on 01723 370541 and online at www.sjt.uk.com
